Bluetooth: Pairing a mobile with an USB adapter
作者:佚名    文章来源:不详    更新时间:2006-5-7 11:18:02

After having installed and configured your Bluetooth adapter, you still cannot establish a connection with your mobile phone. A second operation is needed: pairing the phone and the computer together.

This is basically a process that consists in swapping pass keys and setting up a trusted connection between the adapter connected to the PC and the phone.

Activating Bluetooth on the Phone

Activate Bluetooth on your Series 60 device by going to the Main Menu, selecting Connect and then Bluetooth.

You will be then prompted for a name that identifies your phone for other bluetooth devices (this only happens the first time you enter the menu).

Then turn on the Bluetooth setting:

If you go back to the idle screen, you should now see a small black point on the top right corner:

Pairing the phone and the computer

Use the right arrow to switch to the second tab view which presents the list of devices paired with your phone. It is empty by default:

Open the option menu and select the New Paired Device item. The phone will scan for bluetooth devices and after a few seconds will display a list of devices in range:

Patator is the name of my development system. This name was configured during the installation of the Bluetooth adapter on my computer.

Select the name of the device you want to pair the handset with. This will popup a window requiring you to enter a passcode:

Type a numerical value made of 8 to 16 numbers and remember it. When you press enter a yellow popup shall near your PC taskbar indicating that the handset tries to establish a connection with the PC. Click on it to acknowledge the message. This will open the Bluetooth Pin code request window:

Just type it the same value as the one you entered on your phone and validate. If you did not make a mistake, the phone and the computer shall be paired :

By default any connections from your PC to the phone must be manually accepted on the phone. You can automate this process by setting the computer as authorized device: this means that when you connect from the PC to the phone it won’t ask you if it’s ok and will connect automatically. Just select the Set as authorized item in the option menu and here you are: you can now easily exchange some data between your phone and your computer.

In the next section, we will see how to configure your system to use PC-Suite
