NetBeans 5.5 is a free, fully functional IDE for developing Java™ server and client applications. NetBeans Mobility Pack 5.5 adds features for building applications that can be deployed to mobile devices that use Java technology. With features optimized for MIDP/CLDC development, NetBeans offers rapid, end-to-end application development capabilities, drag-and-drop authoring, and device-fragmentation solutions to application developers who are using Java™ ME technology -- whether for development of stand-alone Java ME MIDlets or MIDlet clients that connect to services available on a network.
- Visual Mobile Designer: Drag and drop objects into the Flow Designer, Screen Designer, and Action Editor to automatically generate Java code for rapid development and prototyping.
- Wireless connection wizards: Easily access Web services and other server-side data from MIDlets via servlets. Support for JSR-172 is included.
- A solution for device fragmentation: Develop your applications for multiple devices by adding and executing device-specific code as configurations within a single application.
